Xiao Wang won the 2015 APS Users Meeting Student Poster Prize

Our very own graduate student Xiao Wang was awarded the 2015 APS Users Meeting Student Poster Prize on Wednesday May 13 in Argonne National Laboratory.  Her poster is entitled “Magnetic exchange interaction between Fe3+ and Ho3+ ions in hexagonal HoFeO3 thin films”.  https://usersmeeting2015.conference.anl.gov/Awards

Physics Field Trip to the Franklin Institute

Physics majors and graduate students had a great time on a field trip to the Franklin Institute on April 29, 2015. Highlights included a Lego show called “The Art of the Brick” and an Imax movie “Jerusalem”, and  cool exhibits about Electricity and the Brain.

Our own Emma Wisniewski-Barker ’11 and Bonnie Schmittberger ’10 met at the SPIE Photonics West conference. Emma and Bonnie are now graduate students at the University of Glasgow and Duke University, respectively!
